I am planning to be a Family Doctor and I want to know which colleges have the best premed course and that I have a decent shot of getting into. I have a 4.0 GPA, 3rd in my class, 1750 SAT (1210 combined), participate in Track & Field, Basketball, National Honor Society, FBLA, Mu Alpha Theta, Diversity Council. I have been Student of the Month and received many other awards such as Who's Who. I take all AP and Advance classes available. What are my chances for Lehigh University, UPenn, Carniege Mellon, Haverford, and Penn State University Park? If there are any other good colleges please let me know.

Wow, what happened on the SAT?

I don't think that would disqualify you from any of these schools except Penn. Penn is pretty tough to get in and they might see that SAT as a weakness, but it would depend on what they think of your high school - if kids from that school have done well at Penn in the past they might overlook your low SAT.

I think you have a good chance at any of the others, based on your GPA and extracurriculars. I don't think there is any advantage in going to a private school... you can get a good education at Penn State. I'm sure they send lots of kids on to med school each year. Save you money for med school tuition. You're going to need it!

Good Luck.
