80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

The Meaning of Life. A lot of people answer it as awaiting death. But is there a death? No. Death is simply the lack of life. So...the meaning of life....here it is through my perspective.

Have you ever seen someone standing against a wall with their head down and arms crossed? (Or something similar to that). Have you? And if you have...had you ever went up to that person and said hello? And if you have done that...have you ever asked the person ''Hey, what's the matter?" Have you?
90% people would answer No to all these questions..., but you know what, deep down, all 100% people will also know that this is what they should have done.
Have you ever, even for the littlest thing, put a smile on a crying face? If you have....then you know....to understand my answer...would be quite simple.

Have you ever just sat atop a tree watching the sun dive behind the horizon and letting all your day’s worries just was away with it? Have you?

Have you ever just looked from a mountain and yelled something just to hear it echo back to you?

Have you ever just put on running shoes and take a run outside just 'cause?

Have you ever removed your shoes, spread your arms, and dance in the rain? Have you?

Have you ever screamed at the top of your lungs in a residential area?

Have you ever observed a tiny creature and felt that it could understand you?

Have you ever really just sat down on white puffy snow and tried to eat the snowflakes that fall from the sky?

Have you ever just sung a song for no reason, just to cheer someone up?

Have you?
Have you?
Have you?
Because if you haven't, then I greatly feel sorry for you, because doing all this....just living like it was your last day on earth and putting smiles on other faces...is the true meaning of life.

Go on. Do at least on of the things I've mentioned on this answer of mine. Trust me; you'll realize why I've said that it is the true meaning of life.

I see life as purely, 'here to live and die' but for some reason us humans have been built attracted to challenges, risks, potential...Which means we always strive for more than just eating, sleeping, breathing, breeding..
As I've said before, its sort of like we are passengers on a train - awaiting our destination. Throughout that journey we are always learning new things, meeting new people.
Although we will never know the meaning of life - for sure..we all have our opinions. This is my opinion. There is no harm in guessing or predicting. But, that doesn't necessarily mean I agree with it.
If you are offered dessert, why not take it? I believe we all have something different inside us that makes us unique - we have to find that and exploit that...In a way that brings peace, harmony, happiness and security to those around us.
I say reach for the stars and try and enjoy as much of the journey as you can. Try and help other people enjoy their journey too.

take care
truly, best wishes :-}

I'd love to know that too! Though I guess everyone is here to search/make their own destiny. Still, I also don't really understand the meaning behind the existence of life. People come, people go... planets are created, planets are doomed... I believe there's a reason behind everything. Wonder what's the reason for our existence...

To live. Literally and philosophically. Live. Don't just get by. Live. Don't just accept your fate. Live. Find your joy and live it. Don't wait for this or that. Live. Get out there and fully experience life... the joys, the sorrows, the ups, the downs. Live. That is the meaning of life.

Life has no meaning or explanation it just is, or isn't as the case may be! So don't worry if someone says "get a life" because they don't have one either!
