It's a little bit of both (from what you just listed).
Many people fear the unknown.
And many people have grown up thinking something is BAD!
Since they're not educated otherwise, they just believe what they are taught.
Since they don't spend any time with gays / lesbians, they never get to see what truly great people they are and just how much they are like any one else.
I think the same thing goes for many racest and religious stereotypes that many people have.
It's horrible and I wish everyone could see past it all.
We're all human, regardless of our race, class, color, or sexual preference. We all love, fear, cry, breath, bleed, and long for better lives.

Urgh! I don't hate gays/lesbians. I know a few, and except for their sex lives (IMHO) they're no different from any of my other friends. I don't particularly care for to know what ANYONE is doing in their bedrooms so its a non issue unless they want to ram their sex life down my throat.
Look at it this way, I have a friend who is a strict vegetarian. I am a carnivore thru and thru. How polite would it be for me to give her recipes for steak tar tare or tell her about the crown pork roast I made last night? I know she isn't 'into' that sort of thing--I know by telling her how much *I* enjoy it won't convert her into a meat eater--so we discuss things we both have in common.
Just because someone doesn't agree with gays/lesbians does not mean they hate them. It's just another liberal lie that gays/lesbians buy into because they feel libs are taking their side.

To stone them to dying is the previous testomony regulation. we don't stay that way anymore in view that we've a clean Testmanet. yet God DOES hate them because of fact they're wicked workers of iniquity: The arrogant shall no longer stand on your sight; You HATE all workers of iniquity - Psalm 5:5. ~ notice: workers are human beings. So God does no longer love each physique. additionally take a seem at 11:5... The Lord exams (examines) the righteous, however the wicked and the guy who loves violence His soul HATES - Psalm 11:5. ~ notice: This additionally proves that God does no longer love each physique of their sinning state of being. people who say "God hates the sin yet loves the sinner" are no longer telling the fact. they could examine the Bible greater in the event that they like to chat approximately God. EDIT: do no longer hear to the folk who say God would not hate everybody or that He hates the sin no longer the sinner. they like spit on God's be conscious here. i desire they stop telling their deceit.

I am a Christian. I do not hate gay people. I do, however, disapprove of homosexuality. God does not hate gay people , but he hates it when people practice homosexuality. Hate the sin not the sinner. Personally I am against hate crimes and gay-bashing but I find homosexuality morally wrong. Even some people that are not christians find it morally wrong as well.

Yes, Ignorance and upbringing. Homosexuality is not a perversion. It is a naturally occurring variation in human sexuality and exists, and has existed in all times and peoples of the world. The majority tend to hate the identifiable minorities. Add to that, western religion appears to condemn the manifestation of any form of sexuality outside a man and woman who are married to one another.

Mostly, it is taught, just like racism. Forty years ago it was fine to insult African-Americans by forcing them to sit in the back of a bus, drink from a different water fountain, and use a different public bathroom. It was the social norm. Then government stepped in and reformed society by saying it is not legal or right, through legislation and education. Today, racism still survives, but not to the degree it did just a few years ago (or at least, not a public front). People need someone else to hate. They need to feel superior to someone else. Of course, some people use religious references or inferences of nature to prove that homosexuals are different from them. Although, I believe the majority of people are happy to live in peace with their neighbors and "let live." It is the maniac from the street corner that gets most of the attention, however.

I don't hate them, but I do have a hard time not holding those who do in high disdain. Especially the ones who say "Hate the sin, not the sinner." That may be the most disingenuous and hypocritical phrase ever invented by the Religious Wrong.

I really think its the mere suggestion of people like yourself, who carelessly assume gays and lesbians are still not being accepted. This is what I think feeds our prejudices to continue to hate.

Hate is a very large word.....I dont believe people truly hate homosexuals. People who practice normal sexual practices feel very unconfortable about them. You can say all you want about homosexuality. That its a gene or one is born with it,or its simply a lifestyle choice. The bottom line is.....That is immoral. Two people of the same sex were not made to have sexual relations...... Sex is really all about pro-creation. Here in America however.....Far left kooks have tried to make it acceptable. I think that most normal?rational people have accepted that it exsits. They just dont want it in thier face, and most certainly dont want special benifits for being homosexual......

I don't hate them. I think that they have a problem. Religion certainly comes into it, but I feel that it is a perversion of nature. All biological species, that have two sexes, have evolved to have heterosexual relations. Homosexuality, to me at least, seem unnatural.
