Or considered "damaged" if she chooses not to? If there is no desire then why force something that is not there? The world is already over populated and divorce rates are ridiculous, why is there a need to join the bandwagon?

Anything that is different from "the norm" will be eyed with curiousity, misunderstanding or suspiscion. Look around: most people DO choose to have kids (I mean, by definition, if most people chose NOT to have kids, none of us would be here today to discuss it - the human race would just die out). It doesn't make it good, or bad - it just is. But when you go against the tide, you stand out; this is just how things are with everything. If you dye your hair blue, do you think people won't notice? There's absolutely nothing wrong with blue hair - but for whatever reason, most people don't use blue on their hair, so you will stand out.

I know where you're coming from, I don't want to have kids, and I feel like an "odd man out" much of the time. But at some point, you have to acknowledge that you're different from the majority, and either blaze your own path, or conform.

That stigmatism is increasingly becoming a non-issue. As more and more people choose not to get married and/or have children. I know tons of folks who have changed their perspective in that area over the years. I for one have, after two failed marriages I'm having a hard time figuring out why people do it. Though I have a daughter I don't begrudge others for choosing not to have children just the same as I don't want people passing judgment on me because I do.

It takes our society a long time to accept changes in regards to roles. It was only in the last 20-25 years that single parents became more acceptable. It's ok for a person to choose not to have a spouse or children regardless of their sex. If this is what you are comfortable with then ignore the rest and do what makes you happy. Continue to be strong and confident with your choices and the people who are the closest to you will come to respect that about you.
