Yes, if the current status in your passport is ECR then you should get ECNR stamped on your passport before leaving for UAE.

Recently the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India have been simplified the criteria for ECNR status. Submit your passport along with the attested copy of your educational certificates (matriculation or above) and you will get back your passport on the same day.

Good luck

p.s. this formalities required for the immigration clearance from India ONLY. It is not mandatory for the UAE immigration authorities.

Buddy ECNR check is not required if you have qualified 10+2 as per new guidelines. Further now no stamping is done for ECNR check not required. I dont know how do they identify this but I went for submitting the passport form at Delhi office a week back where there was huge board stating this. Further if you need to get ECR done then you need to go to the passport office for this but definitely first go through www.passport.nic.in If you apply through net then you do not have to stand in long queues.
Best of Luck.
