I seem to think the definition is something like that.
Or the belief that something is useless.

Can't find a defined word for this but if you wanted to create one, you might have "achrestotaxis" or "achrestotaxy".
Derived from Greek (Achrestos~ useless. Taxis ~ arrangement) ,
