I am the last person to support George Bush, believe me. That said, I really can't lay the lion's share of the blame for the situation in New Orleans at the feet of the president. I blame him for Chertoff, and for the ineffectiveness of the emergency services' response, and for the lack of a national drive for aid, and for a whole host of other things totally unrelated to Katrina; but in the main local and state authorities have not only dropped the ball, they have left the field and begun the press conference with the game still on the line. Further, the drain pumps specifically are the responsibility of the ACE, an organization which makes ineffectiveness an organizational philosophy and gives a bad name to engineers everywhere. Look no further than the corps to find the people most at fault in this tragic farce.

Hey, hon, I hate to break it to you but it's the governor and the mayor to blame for NOLA's problems. The President is the Commander and Chief of the military! He's got nothing to do with NOLA's problems. Those people shouldn't have built where they did and they should have left when they could have. Nagin and the Governor of Louisiana are the ones to blame for that huge fiasco and the ongoing problems. Perhaps they have to worry about the raising murder rate now that the people are back.

Does NOLA have a Mayor or Governor? Don't they have representation in the Senate and House? Why don't you start there? That is without a doubt one of the most corrupt places in the country, try holding them accountable for part of the problem would you? They, the people of NOLA should be screaming at their own representatives, and not re-electing the creeps!

Unless you live here in New Orleans and have first hand knowledge of what is actually happening here, shut up!

Our wonderful governor Kathleen Blanco has done everything she could to hinder the progress of things here.

As for pumping systems here in the city, they work some 150% better than they did before Katrina. There are still great problems with all the bureaucratic BS that big government has implemented that keeps us from being completely back.

The bottom line is if you want to blame anyone, blame the liberal democrats who created such a large government bureaucracy that nothing gets done.

The United States has a FEDERAL system. The national government is not responsible for NO drain pumps. The city & state governments should be taking care of that.

Don't blame Bush because the state government of Louisiana doesn't spend the money they are given by the federal government for what it is set aside for. What do you want him to do, go there with his tool box,and fix it himself? It is the states job to fix those things when they are given the money to do so. The Federal government has given BILLIONS of dollars to the state of Louisiana to fix the levey problem every time they ask for money they were given something, and they would spend that money on different things when the check came.

I live in New Orleans, and I lost my house and all my belongings.

Trying to place blame for this is the wrong step to take. Wise people take responsibility for their situation, and do their best to change it. Why? Because if I had waited for the federal government to bail me out, I'd be disappointed.

More at fault for this than Bush is the city and state government. But waiting for help from them is also a mistake.

Wise people realize that the government, while it means well, is slow to act, so they take matters into their own hands.

God helps those who help themselves. If you spend your time waiting for others to deal with your problems, you will be disappointed more often than not.

He's not Commander and Chief of the drain pumps! The chief problem is New Orleans is below sea level. People that build house in areas that are below sea-level in regions frequented by Hurricanes are DOPES! But we Americans must pay to rebuild their wretched homes so they can be washed away again!
So braniac how's Bush gonna fix that problem?

Since when did a states issue become a federal issue? Anything to make Bush look bad, eh?

This is not his issue, it is the issue of those incompetent nuts who are running the city and state.

What are you expecting...George fixing them himself with wrench in hand. New Orleans and the State of Louisiana were given a boat load of money to rebuild. Why not go and ask those folks.
