Most Iraqis still have only one hour of electricity a day because the Iraqi government still uses a primitive, vulnerable system of power generation. What do they have a lot of in Iraq (besides oil)? Sunshine!! Solar tiles, panels, I don't care-just use it.

Well, it is more expensive, and i don't think President Bush or the army really cares about if the Iraqis have enough power or not right now.

I think because the average Iraqi makes about 1000 dollars a year and a good solar panel costs about 10,000

their biggest problem is the sand. solar tiles need to rotate and be in the sunlight as much as possible for optimum efficiency. with all the sand it gets in the servos and gears and causes them to break down and jam. the grits also crack, chip and score the solar panels causing them to need replacement. my guess is that the iraqis have neither the manpower or desire to devote full time work to the delicate system that is solar power. they are more interested in stabilizing their war-torn country. just guessing about their desires tho.

Because if they spent money on solar panels they would be destroyed by car bombs, and explosions, and idiots that think they are doing Islam good...Because solar panels are a thing of the EVIL western world. 1) Obscenely expensive.
2) Don't work at night.
3) Nowhere to buy them.
4) Few would be willing to ship them.
5) Few with the expertise and know how to install and maintain them.
6) Gas or oil burning stoves and lamps are far cheaper and much more practical.
