Cat food contains much more fat because they have a higher metabolism. If your dog eats cat food he'll just get fat.

Dogs often like to eat everything they can.
But dogs and cats have different nutritional needs at different levels of intake.
Dog food is often too rich for cats, there is often a lot of meat in it if it is moist, and a cats system just isn't designed for such vast quantities of meat and so many levels of nutrients that are designed to support dogs.
It would be too much for a cat to take in and stomach.
As cat food is gentler on nutrients, of course a dog can eat it if it wants to.
Cat food won't hurt a dog.
But DON'T give dog food to a cat, it will be too harsh on the cats digestive system.
Most cats wouldn't even touch dog food for this reason.

First of all dogs eat anything...and I mean anything...if it has a flavor or smell its gone...no the foods are not alike...cats need more ash and the cats love corn and dogs love garlic so the flavor they favor is in their foods plus the nutrients they each need. Go for Eukanuba lamb & rice for both cat and dog and they will become more satiated...and put the cat food up to ensure that the cat gets to eat. but there is no harm if they eat each others food sometimes...but dont' go with buy only one kind and oh well...

The main difference between cat and dog food is protein and calcium content. While dogs are omnivores (will eat both plant and animal material) cats are carnivores (eat only meat). In order to be palatable to cats, the food has much more protein in the mixture. While it may be tastier to the dog, it has a much higher fat content and can lead to obesity related health problems in your dog. Cat food also has more calcium than dog food which can make dogs itchy.

Some cat and dog foods are made with the same stuff, but they both have different nutrition levels specially for sertain cats and dogs. Sometimes my cats eat dog food, and the dog eat cat food, but i punish them both when they do because it can give them bad nutrition and they will start loosing their fur and getting bad teeth. Avoid it and let them eat the food they're suppose to. Dog and Cats are both carnivores, but they have different nutrition needs. Too much of one mineral can be fatal, and there are too much of different minerals for other animals and dog and cat food

No! Cat food is high in fat, and has many different proteins. A cat's body is very different from a dog's. You only feed a dog cat food if you want him to get fatter. Its what they feed under-weight dogs. They mix it with a healthy mixture of dog food. It gives the gross dog food some flavor and provides fat. Dog food is the only thing that'll give your dog the proteins and vitamins he needs to be healthy.

NO!! Dogs can taulerate more ash in their kidneys than cats.

Cat kidneys are very sensative to blockage, thats why the cats were dying before the dogs in the fda food recall

No, they are different. Also, you should be aware that some dry cat foods contain anti biotics that can make a dog ( or a small child) very sick.
