Marley wanted to shoot the police but there was a fuss so he changed it to sheriff. Then Eric Clapton made it more famous. (Funny how Marley was censored and rap promotes cop killing today, isn't it?)
Actually, the shooting came about while Buford T. Justice was showing Junior how to handle a gun. Ol' Buford never was too skilled.
