Do you know that they feel that birth control is abortion? And should also be illegal? Do you support Right to life? And my source is the 14 hours of Natural Family Planning classes I have had to take for marriage prep. I read so many talk about 'use birth control' but did you know that birth control is considered abortion by Right to Life?

Brian, your assumptions are really betraying you and your lack of knowledge. You should try looking into the things you feel so strongly about...like aborting babies, which you seem to think is fine if done with birth control, or in the case of rape...I guess those babies are less innocent and you feel it is OK to murder them.

let me explain their reasoning, and how you can't just brush it off..if you believe that life happens at conception. They believe that when conception occurs in a birth control taker, that the birth control also works as an abortifacient in that it roughens up the uterus, preventing implantation...or 'aborting' the pregnancy. If you beieve that life begins at conception, you must also believe that birth control is abortion. 'pulling out', although only slightly less effective than condoms, is NOT considered the same thing, unless conception occurred...and without birth control, that fetus CAN implant, and create pregnancy

sometimes the sperm and egg DO meet, and the two fold processof birth control kicks in, and the conception does not implant.

Jack Bauer, instead of putting words in my mouth (I never used the word conservative, because I know that there are conservatives, like myself, who are pro choice, just as there are liberals against abortion. This was directed to pro lifers...now answer the question. NFP is a form of family planning espoused by ALL religions, not just catholics.

sway, it does NOT prevent conception, it prevents implantation. Same argument can be made...so i guess you too have a different definition for life...

No, actually I didn't know that. But it explains something I've always wondered about. Last year Planned Parenthood approached the main Right to Life groups to hold talks about reducing abortion, which should make both groups happy in theory. They wanted to hold talks about birth control and how to manage sex education so that abstinence and prevention could be melded into an acceptable teaching tool for both groups with our youth. The Right to Life people refused to talk to them at all. You've filled in one of the blanks for me on this, thanks. Being reasonable and realistic is obviously not one of their strong suits, no wonder they never get anywhere with their agenda.

I doubt the person or publication that told you that speaks for prolifers in general.
SOME methods of birth control are considered abortion; namely, only those that prevent a fertilized ovum from continuing to grow and become the person she/he/it has the potential to be. While The Catholic Church opposes use of barriers that prevent fertilization, it does not consider them to be abortions, and neither does the prolife movement as a whole.
I think prolifers would save a lot more lives if we worked to develop ways to terminate unwanted pregnancies that don't deny the unborn the opportunity to become whatever they can become. This might even include cryogenic technology that would delay their births until their mothers decide it is ok for them to continue their lives or until their mothers die.

Not only that, Roe v. Wade was based on an ealier case that established the right to privacy - by striking down laws forbidding use of birth control. If Roe v. Wade is overturned, that case could fall too.

Abstinence is the only true Pro-lifer anti- pregnancy stance, according to biblical standards, anything else remains hypocrisy, and the "voice of the hypocrite shall fall mute, and true believers shall hear the truth"...They probably need to look up propagation, and the meaning thereof, thus the whole act of having sex(without a conception) would be classified as "sinful" and the picture gets crazier and funnier the more you watch....Isn't scientific knowledge great, and the lack of it pathetic..?

yes, just like the Catholics do. i'm a pro-lifer, but, there is a grey area. just like many things. and i don't agree that birth control is a form of abortion. that's absurd. they might as well say the "pull-out" method is birth control, and therefore a form of abortion. lol.

You should never take another groups word about another group. Especially on such a controversial Issue. You should get it from the horse's mouth otherwise their is a good chance you are being lied to.
That is a good life lesson many people should learn.

It sounds like you need a better medical support group.
Messages like this make me angry. Such biases are what poison the rights of individuals. Society has no right to impose such perverted and one sided dogma on women.
Get yourself a new medical support group now! If you hear so much as one pro-life dogma statement, turn and walk away. Do not validate such garbage!
It is and always be your body. Not society. Not your husband or the father of the child.
Yours.

Pro-lifers are hypocrites, because they could care less about the mother's and child's welfare once the cord is cut.
Then they proceed to crab about how many families and single mothers are on welfare.
If life meant so much to them they would gladly just put up & SHUT UP!
EDIT:
hichefheidi: What religion is this that puts you through "natural family planning" before marriage???

Despite popular belief, pulling out does work. Somebody should update George on this tactic. Seriously though, birth control is not the same as abortion so if the right of life message does exist, logic evaded it.
