It depends on the size of the goldfish really. Like many other fish, gold fish will eat most anything that will fit in their mouth. If the goldfish are rather small and have not been fed live foods you have a reasonable chance of being able to add the shrimp. Be sure the shrimp have plenty of hiding places though.

They might pick at the shrimp due to its small size. A better bet would be to get a snail or a pleco fish - they'll perform the same function as a ghost shrimp, but won't be bothered by the goldfish.

I had a ghost shrimp and a long finned fancy goldfish in the same tank. The ghost shrimp actually attached itself to the long fins and ate half the tail. The goldfish ended up dying after a few days.

It should be fine for a little while to have shrimp in there, but as the goldies get bigger; they may eat them. Currently I have 2 ghost shrimp w/ my 2 goldies in a 29 gallon with double the filtration. They are about 2-3" long, and seem to leave the shrimp alone. Of course I have 2 live plants, a bunch of plastic plants, and some rock hideouts for the shrimp to hide in. I didn't plan to put them in there, but they escaped out of my 2 gallon betta tank because Jace was chasing them. I decided it might be safer for them to be in a nice big tank. So with lots of plants and hiding spaces, they should be fine.

Yes these fish are compatable and it is ok to put them in a tank together depending on what size the tank is make sure it is big because we have two oranda fishes (a type of goldfish) in a 10 gallon tank .The reason we have them in such a large tank for just two fishes is because theey will not get enough air if they do not have a big enough tank the bigger they get the bigger the tank should be we will soon need a 40 gallon tank for two fishes because they are half the size of my hand already! You might also want to get some water test strips to test your water for chlorine and amonia levels in your water I, only use bottled spring water for our fish. Since these are new fish they may be stressed out being moved from place to place you may want to buy a stress enzyme for the water to calm them down because the stress can kill them very easily good luck !!!!

i think ghost shrimp are a great addition to an aquarium -- they clean up detritus better than anything else and they will make a tasty shrimp dinner for any fish curious enough to try. don't get them if you want some lasting pets -- they are really better if you think of them as entertaining food that will help clean your tank.

They may eat them but also the amnonia levels could get too high for the shrimp.
