if your friends' mom said this to you"i hope this does not offend you but could you wear a shirt over your bathing suit?"

my two piece bathing suit is not slutty and she said this just randomly!

do you think it's ok for someone to say this?

Did you ask her why?
I personally would be offended.

I know it probably sound's like it was, but I think she had said it for your best intentions. She could have a husband or son that said someting, or it could be simply because she is very old fashioned. Some mother's are very protective about skin and two-pieces are a little revealing, even if you do deny it.

I wear a shirt over mine as well and maybe its because she didn't want you getting a sun-burn.

Stay hot.

I'm not entirely sure she meant it as "you look like a hoe, cover up" sort of way she may have meant that your showing some skin and sitting out all day in the sun isn't healthy and there for you should cover up but if she meant it in the slutty kind of way then I'd just brush it off if she said it in a nasty tone. but by the way she said it it sounds like she really wasn't trying to offend you but it was out of maternal concern, after all you are friends with her daughter.

I don't think you should be offended if she was polite about it. Maybe someone was looking at you and she wanted to protect you.
You could always ask her (in a tactful way) then you will know why she asked. I would ask her...if she felt comfortable enought to ask you to put a shirt on then you have the right to know why. Just be super nice about it....act concerned not offended.

I hope you find this helpful!

the mother obviously wants to keep you protected.
although you are not her daughter, she feels a kind of motherly role over you when you are over, because you are her responsibility.
she may also not want her daughter to wear a shirt, and you don't.
the daughter might get jealous, or whine, etc. etc.
and also, what you may percieve as not slutty, she may think it is, ya know?

i hope i helped.
but next time, try and see it from her side.

She may have asked you to do this because your suit was too reavealing in her eyes. Or maybe she has a husband or son and was looking out for your best intrests.

She had a right to ask that if you were at her home. Unless you are actually in the pool a cute beach cover up gives you a classy look.

I would ask her why
And if she had a good reason, like her husband's eyes were falling out of his head, yeah, put a shirt on.
But if she doesn't, I would be offended.

i dont think it is, i mean as long as you are comfortable with your body you can do whatever.

However, another way to interpret this for me is that I am Indian, and i know that its not cool for me to walk around in a 2 piece if there are elders around, for respect, so maybe if you were in a situation like that i can see her saying that. but its what you want to do, not what she wants you to do.
