Ok, my sisters fish is having problems this time. It keeps thrashing around the tank, then floating to the bottom, and swimming up to the top. It also keeps floating on its side and upside down. Is it dying, or does it have parasites or something? Any tips?

Yr sister have to remove the fish immediately as it is suffering from internal n external diseseas which can spread to other fishes n cause death.Quarantine immediately n treat with medication for internal n external diseases.do not feed the fish during medication n monitor for 3 days, do minumum water changes n when add fresh water, also add aquarium salt but eventually, the fish might or might not recover depend on the fish as it is under stress. Ask yr sister have she put sufficient salt to the tank. Fish normally have stress and result in sudden death

That does sound like a fish in serious distress. The first thing I would check are the water conditions. Make sure the tank is not too hot or too cold and that the ammonia, nitrites and pH check out to be in safe ranges. If those are not, then a water change would help relieve the stress. If all of those are ok, then the fish has a disease that is quite advanced and even with treatment it probably would not recover.

I DONT THINK ITS DYING. IF IT WAS IT WOULD NOT BE MOVING AROUND LIKE THAT. IT WOULD BE LIFELESS. I THINK YOU FEED HIM TOO MUCH OR HE IS JUST TRYING TO GET USED TO HIS NEW PLACE. DONT WORRY MY FISH MOVES A LOT TOO. ITS NOTHING TO BE WORRIED ABOUT.
