you can treat the water with chemicals/good bacteria which will take out the chlorine and add stuff to help maintain the tank OR you can leave the water to stand for 24 hours which will also get rid of the chlorine...
any pet shop should sell the stuff to treat the water, there are lots of different brands/types...

Wait for minimum 12 hours before putting in any fish in your tank, even if you have used some water softner. :-)
