maybe appeal to his senses:
take him somewhere to marvel at the majesty of the countryside or the innovative buildings in the city.
sit him down to listen to some music by american composers. he doesn't have to agree with the lyrics, but the feelings evoked by the piece are universal.
cook him a good all-american meal and let him taste what this country has to offer.
get him to do some gardening so that he can feel that this land serves the same function as the land in other countries.
let him smell the air as you drive around in the evening with the windows rolled down.
if all else fails, remind him that this is a free country and he's actually allowed to hold his own opinions, and he should love it for that reason.

TL'84,
can you give a little more background? You obviously feel there is an opportunity for change, but I am at a loss by your brief question. Is your husband American born or born elsewhere and brought into the U.S.A.? Did he come with parents or did he immigrate here (if born some place else)?
Additionally, what specifically does he not like? Is it something related to the overall culture, current location, or something else?
I pose these questions only because you seem sincere at your attempt to help him correct his feelings about America.
Best of luck, email me off-line if you'd like through Y!A.

You can't really make him do anything but you could sway his mind by showing the places and reasons why you love it so much.

it really depends on what he hates about it. whatever it is, you will have to find a way of showing a positive side to what he thinks of as a negative aspect.
without something specific, thats the best i can do, sorry!
