It wasn't a let down. At first I hated it, until I thought about it. This is the beginning of a new generation of Sopranos. I feel that in the first episode when Tony and Bobby was in the boat talking about what it would be like to get wacked and Tony said " you won't hear a thing" and then he had the flashback at the beginning of the last episode and they relived that moment it was a major clue. Janus was a little girl when she saw her and Tony's dad get wacked. I feel tony got wacked just as the bell rang from Meadow entering the Diner and Meadow witnessed him being shot. AJ becomes Tony, Carm becomes Liv(tony's mom) and Meadow becomes Janis (they both saw their fathers get wacked. A new generation of Sopranos has been born and what a great movie it will make.

Ok, again, there WILL NOT be a movie. Or more TV shows. It's over. The show went black in the end because Tony was shot in the head. It goes back to the conversation he had with Bobby - what's it like to die? Tony is dead. Get used to it.
It was a gutless ending. I'm sick of wimpy filmmakers not having the guts to show the audience what happens and "leaving it up to the viewers to decide." Come on, you’re either telling a story or you’re not.

I also thought it was a waste of my time. They could of come up with a better finale than that! For instance, Tony waking up out of the coma he was in and realizing the impact the mafia life would have on his family if he continued. Or, him waking up out of a dream and Junior still being the acting boss and get out before it is too late. But to end it like that UGH! But I also was pleased to see Phil get shot and his people turn on him but I still sat at the end of my seat waiting for a shot or a thud or atleast a scream . But all I got was Journey singing "don't stop believing". If they do decide to make a movie count me out, by the time they come up with a script and plots I will be in a nursing home and they don't have HBO!

They're going to prob. show the alternate endings on the DVD.
Possibility, the kids live and AJ plays both sides... he becomes made and a fed (shades of Departed and Godfather). Silvio gets out of the coma, he and Paulie try to get things together. Janice takes over where Livia and Uncle Junior were.
Phil's orders last episode were that the whole family is taken out. Tony said that when he dies, there is nothing.

It would of been a waste of time, but when you've watched all 6 seasons you wanna see the end, which ended up to be crap like the last 2 seasons I'm surprised he didn't wake up at the end and it was all a dream and everyone was still alive junk

I can see how people would view it as a let down. But think about it, David Chase is a freaking genius. He took a bad guy and made him likable, likable to a point that people tuned in just to see if he was going to get killed. When he didn't you realize that its the circle of life, everything comes full circle and just when you think the whole family is getting whacked, they all end up having dinner at a diner, with their lives going forward. Great show, great ending will miss it......

I thought it was brilliant. David Chase stated that the answer to the finale would be found in the first episode of the season. If you recall Bobby and Tony's conversation on the boat, Bobby asked Tony what he thought it was like to die. Tony responded, "you would never hear it coming, and everything would turn to black."
That is exactly what happened to Tony when he looked up at Meadow. The music stopped, and everything turned to black.
Tony was whacked in front of his family.

Yes, it was a huge waste of an hour! So much more could have been done to make the finale memorable.
How could they write so many seasons of great shows and screw this one episode up?

It just leaves it open for the possibility of another season somewhere down the road.
I also think that the creator of the show wanted people to come up with their own ending in a way. He did film 3 different endings to the finale so that no one would know how it was really going to end!

I was sorely disappointed. I like you, waited on the edge of my seat, only to see it end in the ONLY scenario I didn't imagine. I thought Pauloie was working with the NY family, I thought AJ would do something stupid that resulted in Tony's death, I thought Tony would turn to the FBI...who knows what and then nothing!
I heard that when the last season comes out on dvd the last episode will end properly. That means the only way to see the ending is to buy the season when it comes out on dvd.....what a crappy way to treat the loyal fans!
