Thats a great attitude to have. Lets see how you get treated as a senior citizen. Youth is fleeting. Age is not a choice, there is only one way to avoid aging....death.

Well, your friend is IGNORANT and INTOLERANT. What is Old people? What age is OLD? I admit some older people can be annoying as Hell BUT, that also goes for the little ignorant teenie boppers who think they know it all. Your friend needs to take a step back and really listen to what these so called OLD people have to say. They have so may wonderful stories and are so much wiser than you could possibly imagine. Think of how many changes they have seen in their life time. We didnt always have computers and cellphones and video games. Hell, Im 41 and I remember having to use my REAL imagination as a kid to play. Only had 3 channels to watch on tv(thats why we played outside and didnt get fat!) Todays society SUCKS! Absolutely NO RESPECT from the younger generation. This world is going to **** because of the lack of respect. Thats all it comes down to. NO RESPECT. If only we could go back to 1950's family values........Your friends life wouldnt be drained. Her *** would be respecting her elders and this world would be a much better place.

Loved Merry Bodner comment.
The term is Senior because it denotes age not mind set. Some youngsters act old too-now that is draining.
When I had a riding accident several years ago, I was confined to a wheelchair but still had to do my shopping etc. on my own-do you know how many folks shied away from me because I was in that chair? LOTS!!!
Same goes for folks who have disabilities-lots of folks shy away from them too.
Reason: Maybe some folks think it is catching and don't wish to get that close. What a sad world we live in.
I am 62 going on 30 in my mind and my body is having a real hard time keeping up-so be it. Would I want someone with your friend's mindset varing or being around me in the future-no way! Rather get run over by a semi.

No. In fact by being around so many of my mom's sisters (who has since passed on), I can pretty much see what my future holds for me when I get their age. One lived to be 84 and the other 86. And both never had to go to live in a nursing home!

My mom is a little draining, but that is because she has health problems and depends on me. I try to be helpful, only sometimes I do wish she could have stayed healthier a little longer. Still she's a trooper.

Now that I am old enough to reflect on these issues I feel really guilty.
When I was a youth I spent little time with my grandparents and not much with my mother (my father died when I was quite young). How I regret that now. I wish I could be with them for just a few minutes to thank them for all they did for me. I must have been so selfish. Taking everything for granted.
Now that they are dead it's too late for me to make amends, too late to say how much I loved them and how grateful I am for all the sacrifices they made on my behalf.
They taught me a lot and many of those lessons come back to me in my old age.
Sometimes I wish I had been born in a less 'progressive community'. It seems that the so called 'developing countries' can teach us a thing or two about family values and respect for our elders.

I find that young people who do not enjoy being with the elderly are afraid of the reality that they too will be older in the future and they do not want to face it.

However a person who is a mature adult that says that they don't like old people because they drain the life out of her, is a person that cannot give of themselves. They are involved with with me, myself, and I.

No I don't feel this way, your friend better pray she lives to be an old person because there will be so few senior citizens in the future because of drugs, crime, etc., young people are dropping like flys. Old people have so much to attribute to life, it is said, you can't make all mistakes yourself, a lot of knowledge is derived from other peoples mistakes. Your friend better pull up a chair and listen, before there is no one there to listen to. God Bless.

Your friend sounds like someone that would drain the life out of everyone else....regardless of their age. I feel bad for her parents, they raised a real self centered person.

My grandmother is very trying at times, but as far as draining the life out of me, no. Your friends opinion kinda sounds like a horror movie plot.

I am in my middle age and yes, I sometimes feel drained out by taking care of old people specially one that is handicapped and afflicted with a disease. But it don't mean I don't them. I hope that when I get to that age (God bless), I won't be a problem to my children and won't be draining their strength.

I believe your friend is drained because she or he realizes their is nothing they can do to help that person who is old and on the verge of leaving this planet. This helplessness is also the facing of the inevitable.Yes,everyone reaches old age,and it's so unavoidable it's a spirit drain. If that Senior starts talking about all of their memories,it makes you want to cry.If they talk about their medical problems, you want to scream.I'm a Senior, but I understand.
