We were working on our graphics projects (about film adverts), when I noticed that his was all set in Comic Sans. I pointed out that he shohuldn't use it, as it is childish and unprofessional.

He remained unconvinced, so I showed him http://www.bancomicsans.com/home/ and http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22comic+sans+is%22 . He's seriously failing to realise how terrible Comic Sans is, especially for use in a graphics project. His best defence of the font was "F*** you, Comic Sans is awesome!".

Any help?

Might be it's too late now, considering that he clearly remarked "his best defence". He probably had a negative impression on you.

But one should always try, correct? I think, as a start, you should explain about the projects itself. You know, like what is the target audience or anything else that eventually make him agree that all of you want the adverts to have a formal, official, image to the target audience. So it needs any element that will support the building of this image. That is when you explain about Comic Sans; instead of saying that it is childish and unprofessional (which might hurt his feeling, though it maybe true), say that Comic Sans does not fit for the purpose. If the target is teenagers, it will be very fine.

Good luck.

I am a senior graphic design student, and I agree with you. Comic Sans is very informal and should be limited in use. If you want to convince him just show him this answer..

It sounds like your buddy's pretty dead set in his CS love. I'm guessing the only thing that's going to snap him out of it is the teacher shooting him down, and even that might not do it. Your intentions are good, but it honestly sounds like your wasteing your time.

I have no idea. If he is not your partner, let him fail! If he won't listen to you, that's what he gets! ;)
