Excellent first start for Clemens. Even at age 44 he has demonstrated once again that he can win in the big leagues. We can look for him to get much sharper in upcoming games and I believe he will help the Yankees.

Command looked good. His splitter and fastball were indistinguishable which is what makes him effective. Pitch count got up quick, I'm wondering if he was trying to strike everyone out. As he becomes more confident in his mechanics and the defense behind him, he should be back to the old Rocket.
He gets three more starts agianst N.L. teams in a row I hear, so his stats should look real good by the time he starts facing the guys he was brought in to face - the A.L. East. He's big on his stats and pitches better when he's on a roll, so he could be more effective for N.Y. than he was for Houston last year. He'll definitely win more than 7 games.

He did well...went an inning longer than I thought he would but had a very high pitch count. I will hold judgment on Clemens until he pitches against a good team though because the A.L. has a lot better teams than the Pirates.

I was there too!! He was amazing!! I thought that he did very well. He had 7 strikeouts and got a standing ovation from the fans. It was so great to see him back on the mound again. I got a couple of pictures of him too along with many of the other Yankee players. I was soo happy!! I am looking forward to seeing him make his next start. The Yankees dominated the Pirates. They just kept on tacking on runs and our pitching was really great. GO ROCKET!! GO YANKEES!!! =)

It was great for his first start back. He pitched six innings, threw 108 pitches, and had seven strikeouts. He got stronger as the game went on. It also seemed like he wasn't throwing at 100%, so the start was very encouraging.

As expected. He's not going to be the Rocket of old, the stormtrooping ace who can strike out 20, but he's going to be among the better, and more reliable, starters in the league.

He did all right. Gave up three runs and only pitched six innings. THAT does NOT a savior for the Yankees make, especially since it was against arguably the worst team in baseball.
Chow!!
