If you are the owner of the house and the relative has nothing to do with the payment of the mortgage i.e. they don't have any legal tie to the property, you will have to go to court and do an eviction.
Provide the relative a 15 notice to vacate. Do this in writing and have them sign it, if not post it and note the date and time it was posted on their door in your house.
If they have made not further steps to leave you can then go to court to get an eviction done. You will have to file paperwork, get a date with a judge and if they do not respond to the court, a default judgement will be entered and eviction notice issued, which will be posted at the residence by the Sheriff's office.

It really depends on where you are from, your state. Do a search on Google or Ask.com for landlord tenant laws in your state, or just do a search for landlord tenant questions in your area. They should have an agency for this. You can also call an attorney and ask briefly what to do and how to research laws about relatives living with you.
Do you have a written agreement or some lease in writing? If not, I think the laws are generally "get out". If they are not legally staying there then they can be put out immediately.
Do that search above and research landlord tenant laws in your area.
Hope this has helped.

Why are you having the relative removed? Before you take drastic measures I hope it's for a really good reason. But first you will need to give them a 30-day eviction notice. Then you can file an FED which is the judicial process of court-ordered eviction if they still haven't left.

assuming you either own the home, or are the sole leaseholder, you can go get a restraining order and have the sherriff remove them. If the person is on the mortgage, or the lease, then it's pretty much up to you to get out of it and go away.
restraining order assuming they have done something to warrant this action, if you just don't like them anymore, then go the eviction route. takes longer and more hassle.

Assuming you own the house and they don't pay rent or are not in your custody, treat them to a movie, and have the locks changed while they are away. Put their belongings outside and call the police if they try to force their way back in.
Or, sell the house and move.
