my BF was the craziest wildest person i know... and he gave a Speech at Church (still drunk from the night before) and everyone thought he was God's gift... I was the only one who knew the truth and i just shook my head.

yeah, just because someone sits in a church one hour a week it doesn't make them a good person. usually the biggest freaks hide behind religion

More often than not, the children or "Kids" who go to church are not there because they chose to go. They are "made" to go by parents with good intentions. A kid has to want to be a better person and attend church because it fills a need and desire for organized religion. You can't mandate morality in any human being. Oh, you can try...but it won't happen when the person is alone or away from the parents unless it is sincere. We recently went to a convention and the hotel manager was discussing student groups with me. He told me that our journalism group had never caused him a problem..he then followed that up with.."You know, you'd be surprised...but it's the church groups that are the worst." I wasn't surprised. The kids are getting away from the parents and their true selves are coming out. NOT all kids fall into this category, obviously. Some of them are great kids at heart and will be the same in front of parents, teachers and even their peers.

Well...hypocrisy isn't the way to go, however, i can't think of a better place for kids that don't behave and do things they shouldn't to be. It was awkward for me at first, but once i got that understanding, i wouldn't care if church was full of potheads and murderers...even if they don't seem as if they are improving, seeds could be planted that could affect their lives 5 years down the road??!!
I went to church my whole life and was a hell-raiser for a very long time. It wasn't until I was around 21 that some changes started taking place. If it wasn't for my church backround, who knows what i'd be doing now.

I kind of hear where you are coming from. I went to a suburban private Christian school from 3rd-8th grade and from there went to a public inner-city high school. I found more acceptance from the kids at the high school than I did from the Christian school. Even my "friends" at the Christian school would tell me things like "You would be so pretty if you just lost weight", and couldn't understand why my best friend was the only African-American girl in the school. And when I graduated from the Christian School, my "friends" kinda turned on me(except for one) when I wasn't dating white guys.
And this is really sad-because you know that they had to have learned that from their parents.
BUT, regardless of that, I do not hold the choices that people make against God. God gives everyone a free will, and it is up to people to choose between right and wrong.
Peace and love. I feel you. I do.

Redemption, social mask, sensitive to the environment of church. They're many reasons. I suppose to portray an image that makes the church believe they are 'saints' and when they get into trouble, it becomes convienient for them. They are 'saints' after all.

It's part of the ways of the world! Let them think they are saints, so what! (saints need not go to church, by the way!) What they do in church is what matters: they need to pray, and pray well, sincerely from the heart!
