No you just keep passing on the same STD to each other unless you both use protection.

No you moron.
What will happen is that the strain of the STD you have and the strain of the STD the other person has will bond and make a more adaptive strain that could require even strong medicine to get rid of.
Think of how a cold sore has mutated into herpes.

no, you will only be passing the STD back and forward to each other. Why dont both parties get treated at the same time? Having an STD can lead to more serve problems if left untreated

Nope, and it will not cure itself either, get checked out at your local sexual health clinic, the number will be in the phone book.
For example you have genital warts (strain 6) and your partner does too, (but they have strain 11), it may actually be a different strain of genital warts so if you have unprotected sex you could be infected with their strain too (and have strains 6 and 11).
HIV also has various strains so you can be infected by different types this makes treatment more complicated, and when i ay treatment i don't mean cure, there is no cure.
so be safe be sure use a condom :o)

The best thing here is you are honest with each other. I would call a free clinic or get some real medical advice. My gut answer is you both could make things worse for each other. Get some treatment if possible and if abstinence is called for for awhile,do it. It'll be worth it in the end.

Even the same STD can have a different strain of the disease.

So they'd still need to use protection.

No. One STD plus another STD adds up to two STDs. So, your STDs will get worse. Its simple maths. :P
If you don't get it, here it is written in simplest form:

1 STD + 1 STD = 2 STD

Got it? Good.

ofcourse not it is still there, it dosent know if the other person has it or not, like a flu, however it cant get worse once you have it, obviosly there is treatment for certain stds but it cant get worse, unless you have treated it already and it is all clear you can once again contract the disease
