Last year was actually Rivers' third year so he was no rookie. That aside, he did have a solid season for a first year starter. That eased the loss of Drew Brees, who had an even better year for New Orleans. Any QB playing with LT has a very good shot at success so look for Rivers to have another good year.

although it wasnt his rookie year, for a first year starter he did great. he exceeded everyones expectations, i remember at the beginning of the year the media said the chargers would miss the playoffs because of rivers, wow they were a little off. for his first year starting, having a 90+ QB rating, going to the pro-bowl, and leading your team to 14-2 is great. and yes, he did lead this team to 14-2, three big comebacks against cincinatti, seattle and denver should count for something as the QB. i am very excited to have rivers

He DID have a great year as a starter, he did benefit from watching and learning from Drew Brees for two years. You must keep in mind that his stats were good enough to get him voted to the Pro Bowl in his first starting season and when you look at the stats, he had a better year than Tom Brady. If he plays better this year, which one would expect, the Chargers will be dangerous......very dangerous.

Yes i disagree since last year was his 3rd year in the league and not his rookie season!

First of all it wasn't his 'rookie' year. It was his 3rd year.
Next, he really had to do little since the Chargers relied heavily on Tomlinson, and rightly so. Rivers never really had the game on his shoulders to win or lose so I would still call him untested. He had a decent year last year in that he didn't make critical mistakes. He managed the game and that really all that was asked of him.
