I learned Liberals are Socialist. I wasn't quite clear on that before I joined this Yahoo! forum. I learned that people can be mean, and nasty, more than I understood before joining. I learned that a lot of people are deaf, and blind to another opinion, and will do all they can to shut that person up, regardless of party, or kindness shown by said, opposing user. I have learned news I hadn't heard yet, concerning politics. That is about the most positive I can say, and I am sorry for that. I learned this country is more separated than it should be, and I am sorry for that, too. The only thing Americans seem to be allianced with each other, is Illegals not being allowed into America. That is good, but it would be greater, if we all supported our troops in war. They need us.

I've learned that even when I don't use vulgar name calling and stop short of insulting people, that I can still get violation notices from people that don't agree with my responses. I've learned that yahoo doesn't care if what you posted is offensive or not, they'll delete it anyway just to be on the safe side. I've learned that 50% of liberals and 50% of conservatives are the real trouble makers in political chat, and that the other halves who are in the middle are actually more concerned with FACTS than finding fault with the opposite party and being hyporites.

There are a lot of people that just like to spout off rhetoric, they do not really have anything to back it up.
There are a few people who actually have something valuable and well thought out to say, I really enjoy reading these people's answers, even if their views are contrary to mine, I am willing to consider their views.
I have learned to stay away from the questions that are blatantly blasting people who have different views than the asker.

That for the last six years the party that has held majority in all branch's of our government has not been able to solve any of our pressing and ongoing problems. That the "uniter, not divider" is a fraud. That polarization is the norm. That sound bites pass as absolutes. That I do not envy my grandchildren the world they have inherited. And most of all that I am at peace with what ever years I have remaining, as I have stood up for a caring, honest and just society.

If this place is representative of the American population as a whole, I understand a lot better how the country got on the wrong track from coming here.

That a lot of peoples are easily impress with media propaganda... And many don't even use the simplest logics for establishing their arguments... And then, you know what? They "know" you are wrong... Well, if not, I got thumbs down for having info that peoples have forgot, or choose to forgot...
So, now I do know that Yahoo answer is a place to promote politics in the US... Did not think it was so much important!!

I've learned to use the "edit" button more often. I've also learned that what Voltaire said was in good keeping: "Even though I may disagree with you, I will defend to my death your right to speak." I think everyone who participates on Yahoo Answers should remember these words.

I have learned that there are a great many people who do not know a thing about what goes on in their country and there are too many people who are suffused with such a sense of nationalism that they fail to see that their country, like any other, is made from fallible humans who are deluded by the deceptive and widespread practices of religion, deceptive politics, and authoritarianism.
I serve all countries and no countries.

Mostly, that Republicans (or Neo Cons calling themselves Republicans) care nothing about facts or experience. They are only interested in how things LOOK;
Every criticism of an opponent candidate they have focuses on how he or she makes them "feel", or how he or she "appears" to the Republican. "She is SO conniving" but have no specific instances to support that assertion;
Republicans don't seem to develop critical thinking skills, especially when listening to the radio. Rush has been chastised so often by REAL Journalists the website "MediaMatters" has over 40 pages of issues Rush has either misspoken on, been erroneous about, withheld facts to support his claims and generally acted as one of the most irresponsible journalists in American Media (not to mention he's a huge hypocrite, denouncing drug addicts while bullying his maid to get him illegal Oxycontin)
On the plus side it has made me more politically aware, it has forced me to look up sources on line to back up my claims and it has really opened my eyes at just how truly evil certain members of the Republican party can be.

We've all learned that many people have no comprehension of politics, democracy, what it means to be an American or a Brit, and are very poor judges of character. It's also obvious that many people have no intellectual honesty.
