I've noticed recently that the skin on my cheeks is very dry and flaky, I suffer from excema but not generally on my face, so I don't know whether this is related.
Also, my nails feel chalky to the touch, break and crumble very easily and are lined with little ridges.
Could this be a vitamin deficiency of some sort? And if so, what? My diet is fairly good and my hair and the rest of my skin aren't affected.

This is a mineral deficiency. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously.

I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body.

Also take 500mg of calcium and magnesium twice daily.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse you are calcium deficient at the very least and you also need vitamin C. You may even be low on iron. I would take a course on all 3 if I were you and see what its like in 2 weeks, if your no better go and see your Dr

Take a fish oil capsule twice a day and you can add vit E. For the dry skin on face. For the nails the ridges are from lack of Iron and crumble and breaking means you need calcium. good luck hope this helps.

Use "Solar Oil" Beauty shops use this on dry rough skin around the cuticle. I apply it once a day. It really helped mine. You can find it at Sally Beauty Supply or any nail shop that sells nail polish. They have all sorts of different brand, but Solar Oil worked best for me.

I see nothing wrong with the advice you were given by (billy77) above, I would also like you to add more oils in your diet, such as pure soya oil, safflower oil and pure olive oil. Use them for cooking and dressing along with a course of calcium tablets. Good luck.
