Actually, the bubbles are usually clear. Only at the junction of one bubble to another do you perceive the color white. That is because the clear solution of soap and water reflects all color, which in additive color mixing appears white. When many bubbles have many junctions, as in a bubble bath, you perceive the overall color to be white.

If you look closely at a soap bubble, you will see multicolored prismatic effects. There are mathematical equations that describe these phenomenon. They also describe why we see rainbows, how big the rainbows are and at what angle we see them in the sky.

A soap bubble is actually made of water that is held by surface-tension, ( molecular cohesion) of the soap. That's why the bubbles are actually clear and reflect all colors simultaneously which makes them appear to be white when viewed en mass.

Ha! They aren't. They are all transparent but they also do have some color in them still it is just thinnly spread out because it takes very little actual soap to create one bubble. So they appear white but in reality they are not pure white.
Good question though.

Whenever I take a bubble bath the bubbles turn a murky brown.

Wow. I've thought that too. I guess because the bubbles are so thin that they cant really show much color- besides the little squiggley reflections that kind "roll" around the bubble.
