I live in New York City(Queens) we have had a broken dishwasher,is it required for landlord to repair/replace?

It is not required unless the terms of your lease indicate that a dishwasher (in working order) is part of the premises which you rent. A broken dishwasher is neither a safety nor a health issue, and would not fall under the statute or code requiring replacement.
