People will let the 'end of the world in 2012' thing go in 2013 after nothing happened in 2012. This will promptly be followed by a new rumor of impending doom. TBA
People won't let the moon landing thing go, even if we go back. I agree with them when it comes to their arguements about the level of technology making it highly unlikely though. I mean, we aren't even able to go back today and look at how much technology has improved since the 60's. And if we do go back, then some nut will just say that it was all done with greenscreens and CGI.
As far as E.T.: HE's not probing anyone, but we might not wanna dismiss the grey guys so quickly.

The meaning of the events that are supposed to occur during the winter solstice of 2012 isn't about the world ending. It's about humans killing old ways of thinking and taking their consciousness to a higher level. You can see it slowly beginning to take form now. There are many truths that will be revealed about everything you believe in. That's when humans will have a mental rebirth. It's like the story of the Phoenix rising from its own ashes. It lives for 500 years or so, engulfs itself in flames, then rises with a renewed sense of existence and purpose. Think about where this world was 500 years ago. Western civilization was beginning to take shape. It's time for changes in ways of thinking.
