Depends on how high end the restaurant. In a top one, over $1,000 a week. ~

As a wait you can make anywhere from$100-1,000 depending on business, size of party and your skills. I know you'll have to prove yourself and must possess insane wine knowledge . The old saying the more you sell the more you make. If you do the sky is the limit. Be prepared to tip out about 30% of yout tips to kitchen, runners, hosts, solmieier, ect.. You will have to decide if you want to work in high end place were the pace is slow and polished, or a place were you turn and burn but are busy all night and its quanity over quality. Best place to look for a job in the bay area is craigslist.org. Have a good resume and brush up on your american and european service styles.

You do have to start small and work your way up. Either smaller places to get experience, or start as dishwasher at the nice place you're looking at.

An acquaintance of mine worked for Gary Danko. She was pulling in $500-$600 in tips a night as a waitress.
