Depends on your belief. If you believe in an All Knowing, All Powerful God then surely all life is Predetermined. For how could God be All Knowing if he does not know what will happen in all the future to come?

If however you are without religion or a firm belief then the sky's the limit, you'll have to choose whether or not you feel that all you do is predetermined or whether it is free will and your actions now that will determine your fate later.

That depends on who or what would be the one that determines the predetermining. If it is all based on completely natural means, like atheistic-evolution, then yes- physics and genetics have already decided everything all the way down to any choices we or any other species makes at any time. If we are a result of intelligent design then God must live outside of time to have created it, and therefore can probably see past present and future as he likes. In this case he knows what choices we all will make which is kind of like predetermination, but God isn't forcing us to make the choices. So it's freewill with a sort of predetermination mixed in. Noe many people do believe that God has predetermined everything, so everything that happens was decided by God and all of our choices have already been made for us by him. Now if your into the eastern "oneness" philosophy/religion - which is where there is no personal, intelligent, conscious God. Everything that exists makes up the oneness of "God", so in that case choices are completely up to us and there is nothing to predetermine them. That's where in most eastern religions karma comes into play to give us motivation to make the right choices.
Of course there are many more philosophies that would have much more to say on the topic but I believe these are the general main ideas that are out there.

Even if we assume that our actions etc. are predetermined no one knows in advance what has been "pre" determined. In other words we all continue to do what we want to and if the outcome is as we expect we think it is our effort and God1s grace . And if the result is not as expected we console ourselves saying that destiny willed otherwise.

From my own personal experience , after a long service and excellent life, I am of the opinion that an average man like me was destined ( predetermined?) to have such a good run through life and I believe it is grace .

Of Course! And that is why we must be even more conerned about piety of all our actions. If God Almighty has destined some act, work for you, we are expected to honor his trust by doing it with as much sincerity and commitment as we can. Then all fruits, result etc will be as per destiny predetermined by HI<.

That question depends on your religious beliefs. If you believe in a God that will send you to a place where you will burn in agony for all eternity, but yet he loves you. Then you would generally say yes everything we do is predetermined, if not then you wouldnt. My personal belief is when we're born we are put on a path, from there very action and choice we make takes us down a different road on that same path. Until ultimately we reach the end of our journey. Destiny is yours and yours alone, it is what you make it.

I usually disagree with this...but this time it made me think a bit more. For example: If the death of a sun is due to a string of incidents leading up to it, and we are all part of a universal system...then it could sound like order. And if chaos can be compared to free will, then order would be determined. And order denotes structure, plans, etc...a set way to get from one event to the next; predetermined.

friend,

This question is asked so many times by many friends in this foum in one form or other.

There have been very good answers to them from so many. You better read them too.

All do think, that ''Everything we do,talk, etc in this life until we breathe our last is predetermined , and we call it as FATE or DESTINY and they think there is no use trying any thing else as any how what that has to happen will happen.''

There certianly is the effect of our previous births acts and this s normally kalled KARMA.

Friend,
our scrptures categorically declare that THERE IS THE EFFECT OF THIS KARMA in the present life. But it is NOT DICTOTORIAL AND YOU ARE NOT A SLAVE TO IT.

This is also clearly written in scriptures.

But there is one thing called PURUSHA PRAYATNAM.
(HUMAN EFFORT).

You are given a free will.Suppose your freewill action is more powerful than the combined Karma of previous births, then you will go your own way and achieve it.If you do not try and succumb to it thinking it is my fate, there is no way out.
You have to resist the ill effects of past and assist the good effects of past with your Purusha Pratanam vehemently , then you will succeed,
It was said none other than SAGE VALMIKI himself in Vashista Geeta clearly with so many examples.

So I conclude that you have a free will power .Utilise it.

If your Karma is not that powerful, with little effort you achieve a better result.
So you are INDEPENDENT .Try and achieve what you want.

all good luck.

It's all in the genom, but it's not predetermined at all; except WHERE it is, and ironically, this is where Free Will stands, but how, why, and when you get THERE is not and cannot be predet., otherwise we would be no better than the robots we make. Robots work how we program them, when we run them, wherever we want them, because we decide that.

Good luck!
