If Windows loads, it is NOT a BIOS password but a windows one.

Whose PC is it ? Ask the LEGAL owner for the password or GOOGLE for password recovery bootdisks

Windows ME.. oh no....

start it in safe mode,,, by tapping the F8 key while booting up the system,,, it will ask you questions just say yes or ok

once in safe mode click on start, click on control, click on new users,... make yourself a new account,, and make sure you give yourself full admin rights

after that save and reboot the system you will not be able to delete the other user without the password but you can try, while your in safe mode

if you have not got a copy of windows me, then download a copy of Linux that way you will be up to date with a modern operating system

you can download a copy from the link below..they are free to download and you will get all the software you will ever need, when you download the files and make a cd, these are what you call Live cd's you can run all the programs from the cd, it will also test your computer

If Windows loads, then it's not the BIOS password, it's a system password. If it were BIOS, you wouldn't be able to start the computer without the password, and it's stored on your Motherboard, not your Hard Drive. Lucky for you, this sounds like it's just a windows password. Have you tried just hitting enter?

Otherwise, you may just have to re-install windows.

Well i can make this very simple for you ..open the computer and look for a battery it looks just like a watch battery but ofcourse alot bigger. Now make sure you don't have any static electricity in you so remove your socks that's the best way to make sure you are not possitive charged. Now remove this battery and let the computer sit for an hour or so. Then put the battery back in and this will clear out any bios password in your computer ..have fun and enjoy my friend.

Most hardware companies implement a backdoor password to the BIOS that will work regardless of what password is associated is with the BIOS.

Try "Dell" for dell PCs.

you have to clarify,
if the password is required to turn on the laptop, you have to clear it by knowing it, or clearing the eeprom chip

if the password is to log in to a windows ME or 98 session, press escape
