I do not own a TV. I am 47 y/o, live by myself and make a very high salary. I choose not to own a TV because most of the programs are mind numbing. Without the laugh tracks, they're just trite. I grew up and lived my adulthood watching TV.
To occupy my time, my lady and I work jigsaw puzzles, or read. We play board games or just talk. We listen to the radio, or Cd's. We build bird houses in the workshop.
We garden. We ride the horses or play with the dog. We go swimming or take a cane ride. We cook meals. We find plenty of things to occupy ourselves without this form of media.

Me and my family have a lot of games as we have a games evening once a week, no matter what's on the TV. For starters, we often play Mimick - where you act, use gestures etc. without saying a word - just mime - and everybody must guess what you are doing etc. To make it easier in the beginning, decide on a topic, etc type of birds, music stars. It is great fun and both my 15 and 17 year old teenagers enjoy this. They have developed such imaginations because of this.
Hope this helps a bit to relieve the boredom of TV.

Play cards, dominoes (my personal favorite), take a walk, just sit on the couch together and read, either out loud if the kids are small, or just each person individuallly. My family had no tv for 2 yrs when I was in grade school- oh joy!

Actually we do not watch too much T.V. in my house..My husband and our kid's are very happy doing other thing's,we spend a lot of time outside taking care of our animals and riding our horses..I think that if more families stayed away from the t.v. they would be happier..

Sorry, we'd all die. See, televisions produce oxygen in our house. They must....every time we walk into the house everyone turns on every single television in the house. I spend my time shutting them off. But then they start suffocating so I allow them to turn them back on.

I don't watch much tv anyway. I would go for a long walk, read a book, play with my kids and cuddle with my fiance. My fiance, however, would probably die without tv!
