The Sox might be the better team, but who knows what would happen in a series?
Honestly, it makes me laugh when people say things like, "There's no way the Tigers could beat the Sox," or whatever team. If you look at the season schedule, you'll see teams like the Rays and Royals beat the Sox and Indians - that's just the nature of a short series. A lot of people - including many on here - looked pretty stupid last year for saying the Cardinals couldn't beat the Mets or Tigers. Both the Mets and Tigers were better teams, but the Cards were able to beat them because it was only a seven-game series.
So I guess I'd say that it's tough to predict who would win such a series. There's too much chance involved in a short series.

These teams will be playing in Detroit next month. The Sox already took 3 of 4 from the Tigers earlier this year in Boston, so I'd give them a slight edge. But Detroit is one of the best teams in the league, so anything could happen.

No doubt the sox, they've one of the best rotations in the game, and Paplebon has been doing his job with a big help from Okijima out of the bullpen. Thats not even to mention their lineup. I mean Lugo,Yuk, Ortiz, Manny, then lowell i mean come on. It really hurt the tigers when Rodney and Zumiaya were both lost. I do believe Rodneys coming back but at this moment I would def have to take the sox.

I have to give slight edge to Boston over Detroit because Varitek is starting to hit along with Mike Lowell...and you still got Manny and Big Poppi waiting to explode...anything from JD Drew would be bonus...pitching wise both teams are pretty much fair but I like Popelvan much more than Todd Jones as closer role.

Red Sox would take the series but it would be a good one. The Sox have an edge in hitting, pitching, and playoff experience. Sox in 6.

both teams are strong in offense and pitch; wait to see another series games next month.
Tigers has many young pitchers that they had drafted. Red Sox has many veteran pitchers as still stronger in the league.

Red Sox. Without a doubt. They are by far the best team in the MLB this year. And I am a Yankees fan.
