It all depends on ur definition of racism. Like, for instance, people say all asians are smart and hard working. this is a positive racist stereotype, but it can be taken as negative by people who aren't of that race(as if their's doesn't do these things), or even by people of that race who don't work hard because they won't or cant, or by those asians who just aren't as smart as their counterparts. that's a lot of pressure on someone of a particular race who just can't make the cut. There could be a lot of negtive stereotypes about a certain race, and I'm sure ppl of that race who are good citizens are offended by that. I hear many negative stereotypes about blacks and mexicans, but I also know a few of them who are so far from the stereotype, its unfair to lump them in. it's not ok to be any kind of racist, wheather its against ur own, or other races, but ppl do. It's how they set a standard for themselves and who they want to associate with. It's not right, but some forms of racism are acceptable, because the reasons for doing it are valid. It's a personal and perceptual decision, and ppl are ppl, and everyone, every race, has some or many things that set them apart from others, and those qualities will be liked by some, hated by others. But no matter how u carry out ur standards to others, violence should never come of it, that's when the sh-t hits the fan.

You fail to mention that reverse racism exists: Blacks against Whites.

If all of us that do not see color were actually motivated to take a stand against racism, just think what a movement that would be.

At all times racism is a "bad" thing. There can be no positive outcomes from a racist act except for those of us that do not believe in it getting angry and doing something about it.

no, point blank. racism is someone's ill attempt at feeling superior when in fact race does not matter at all. It does not predetermine any personality traits, cognitive capabilities, morality or spirituality. It is merely an adaption to climate and nothing else. Racism has no point really. It's always bad, it's always demeaning, and honestly, it's always outstandingly moronic.

and to "Big Tomz", not to be a pain in the ***, but (honestly I'm just bored and being nit-picky), the guy's question was not whether or not it would continue to exist or why, but if it were good or bad. I'm sorry, you didn't answer the question and on top of that, I believe all people are created equal under GOD and I do not think I'm superior to Muslims, so get your facts straight and try not to be a generalist, that's just as bad as being racist.

i also wonder what exactly the government is telling us to think about racism and exactly what racism is;i notice that young people will tell you unhesitatingly that you criticise anybody for anything but not on the basis of their gender or race-notice that this system isn't against discrimation or anti nastiness as such, only in these two particular areas;for example, being the shortarse that i am the ladies have always made it clear that they would not oblige me in this matter if i was the last man on earth and seem to feel perfectly justified in rejecting me for a physical characteristic on the basis of personal choice but woe betide you if you were to cite a personal characteristic which was racially based;the point here surely is that as surely as i am doomed in this lifetime to seeing the ladies go for the bigger guys so is the fallacy of the government trying to social engineer people's opinions about xenophobia or differences
in their defence,i am sure that the gov are not really trying to change people's minds but really telling them not to be rude or antagonistic although i am not sure-and of course it does not work,in fact the net result is to drive the races further apart;whites feel embattled and resent being told what to do and blacks feel embarrassed by the whole thing
the real question is why people hold the opinions they do and to what extent you can change that and calling them ignorant misses the point;this clumsy attempt at social engineering just drives these problems further underground and it reeks of dishonesty
as for the really nasty racism and hatred of difference that is as nasty and sad as the current witch=-hunt typified by the dismissal from the big brother house of that girl

The same people that say all people are created equal under god think that they are superior to muslisms in the middle east. Racism and bigotry will never go away becasuse people will always have reason to keep seperated from people that are different than them.

I think there are situations where it can be better understood (a lifetime of bad experiences with one particular race, for instance) but it's never justified.
