Isn't it a nice city to tour and explore? I am interested in its architecture, and rich history. I heard it's one of the best preserved cities. But I noticed that most people visit Amsterdam for its nightclubs. Can't one enjoy Amsterdam without going to clubs or smoking hash? Can you give me some tips?

I don't like Amsterdam very much... I think it's overpriced and way too touristy... But there's lots of things to do for non-party-animals, museums, canal trips, architecture, etc... and of course watching tourists...

If you want to visit a very nice Dutch city with less tourists and equally nice old architecture, consider Den Haag/The Hague, possibly in combination with Delft (where you can visit the Delft Blue porcelain factory)

You definitely can enjoy Amsterdam without ever stepping foot into a club or smoking a joint. It is a city rich with history and culture. It is the home of some of the finest art in the world, including the Van Gogh Museum. It is the home of many churches, museums, parks, and even a castle or two. Amsterdam is a beautiful city, you can easily avoid the nightlife and nobody makes you smoke anything .You can walk along the canals, take a canalcruise, make daytrips lots of fun things to do, and do not forget the museums, the Van Gogh museum, the Rijksmuseum and several shipping museums.

amsterdam caters for all ages/types. Most of the young people go their for the drugs and that, but sure every city is going have that whether it's legal or illegal to do so. my mother goes every year because she fell in love with the place. as she says it's the home of tulips and windmills. And it's the only place i've ever heard of having multi-storey bicycle parks.
