My breast have not hurt during this pregnancy since the first trimester and now that I am almost 37 weeks I've been getting these kind of sharp, shooting pains in my breast. This is my third pregnancy and I have never had this problem before. I have an appt on Wednesday and plan on discussing it with my Midwife, but I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

Yes, it's normal, and fairly common. Your breasts are preparing themselves for nursing, and getting ready to produce milk. It can be quite painful. Warm compresses can help. Speak to your OB on your next visit, or phone the doc's office just to be on the safe side.

Yes these are all very normal little niggles! I had all these feeling with my 1st baby in my Third trimester & it went fine. the pain around your breasts could be the pressure on your rib cage as you breath & things are moving up as the baby gets bigger. you may have good days & some bad days but if you ever feel like something might be wrong call the maternity unit or your GP for advice no matter what time day or night! the NHS Direct line is always good to have on your mobile or by the phone at home as they can book you in to see a doctor or midwife when your normal doctor is off duty. You might even start to get an itchy tummy is the baby starts to go into a growth spurt mode! so stock up on a good moisturizer & use plenty twice a day! Hope this helped & best of luck to you all :) Jess x

I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but I am 31 weeks today, and for the past few days have been experiencing the same sharp pains in my breasts. Sorry I didn't answer the question, just wanted to let you know you are not the only one. Congrats by the way.

It's normal in pregnant and non-pregnant women alike. I hear of a lot of women having it and it's generally a nerve issue and never lasts long (more than a day or two).

yes, because milk starts to fill in your breast in preparation for your baby's food
