Yep, when I quit smoking the car drive was a big fear for me. Remember, it all comes down to a choice and if you choose to quit smoking, it doesn't matter what's going on around you, you quit. I just kept thinking that I wasn't born with one of those things sticking out of my mouth, you know? Good luck, you can do it, car ride or not!

kudos to you for continuing to endeavor to quit, and the solution is quite simple, don't have cigarettes in the car, and don't have the money with you to purchase any. I agree that driving was one of my triggers as well. I kept my purse in the trunk, locked in a box, it became too much hassle to pull into a convenience store pull the key to the box out of the glove box, open the trunk, open the lock box, ...you get the picture.

When I used to smoke, I remember trying to imagine not smoking in the car, after a meal, while drinking, etc. For starters, if there are not cigs in the car, you can't smoke in the car, right? While driving, I chewed nicorette gum, so my mouth was actually doing something. After a few trips in the car, I started to forget my need to smoke in the car....I mean...I started to forget the actual habit....It's almost like you have to do something else just to make yourself forget that you like smoking in the car.
