I am setting up remote locations and would like to test the upload and download of each location via my own hosted server. Does anyone have any code or knows what the formula would be to ensure a valid speed test?

http://www.ookla.com/speedtest/licensing.php. However, the only true speed test is one that's performed from within your ISP's network via ftp servers for example. But the site link I gave you is pretty accurate.

Hosting on your own huh? does your ISP know this? have you checked their terms of service? If your ISP dosn't allow this your hosting a server can be real short because if you violate the TOS they will shut your services off and if they are really nasty may ban you from their system.
