He was being a logical patriot. He made the excellent argument that if the US justice system can put 2 million wrongdoers in jail, with lawyers and with the protections of habeus corpus, it can handle terrorists.

That's right, the world would be a much better place if we just let all the terrorists go. Don't even stop them in the first place. 9/11 could have been prevented if we just let all the terrorists do whatever they want.
