Hiya, im going to Cyrpus next week and have a great fear of lets say most non furry animals. Ive been to Crete before and was lucky to see only ONE snake but was the other side of the village before i new it as they scare the life out of me. Anyone no of the animals im likely to come across in Cyrpus (Protaras), my friend told me there is going to be scorpians =(. thanks!

you may see some big lizzards (15cm long) they are harmless though
you will only see snakes if you wonder in the fields and if you are "lucky"
scorpions are very rare but you may see many bugs (in the fields again)
that's all, don't worry, chinese people eat those things and there are many chinese in cyprus now...

We have some poisonous snakes as well as non poisonous black ones. If you wander around in the fields u might (might) come across one. Usually they sleep in a cool shaded place during the hot sunny days. If they get scared of you they may hiss and try to bite. Mostly they'll run away. I don't like them and am scared too.
But you should be more scared of mosquitos in some areas :))) I havent heard of any scorpions here. Lizards abound but are harmless.

Don't worry, you are not going to a wild jungle or anyhing! Sure there are some insects, lizards etc., but they are more afraid than you are. Just check your shoes and bed before you use them, to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

I went to Protaras and to Cyprus, nothing happened to me, personally, i havent seen something...
