Yes, I agree. For him to say things like humor being no excuse (referring to Imus) and then to come out with something like this is just ridiculous. Especially since he was one of the leading proponents of Imus being fired.

In response to yourmuda, it isn't the first part of his comment that he said that you posted which was offensive...it was what he said afterwards about people writing in to respond to the logo, if they are able to get up off the floor after shaking. If you've ever seen someone have an epileptic seizure (which I have) it is not a very pleasant experience. I am not about censoring any/all types of humor, I'm against people in Al Roker's position who are hypocrites, lambasting people like Don Imus for their comments, then giving a half-a$$ed apology for his own insensitive comments. He should be held up to the same scrutiny Don Imus was for his comments.

Firing him would be just as bad as Imus getting fired. He should resign based on what he wrote in his blog. While reading his blog, replace Imus with Al and you pretty much have the same thing.
Don Imus April 10, 2007
I cannot tell you how many people have asked me about my thoughts on Don Imus. As a student of broadcasting, I know Don Imus was one of the original "shock jocks". I listened to him growing up in New York City in the late 60's and early 70's.
He is a radio icon.
That said, it is time for him to go.
I, for one, am really tired of the diatribes, the "humor" at others expense, the cruelty that passes for "funny". Don imus isn't the only one doing this, but today he's the one in the hot seat.
What he said was vile and disgusting. It denigrated an entire team and by extension, a community and its pride in a group that had excelled.
This controversy started and grew during the week. At first under the radar, we even had Don's wife, Deidre, on the program, talking about "green" cleaning. I thought she was so good, I wanted to talk to her about a television program for my production company.
Don and his wife have done a lot of good things. Raising money for charity, including a ranch for children suffereing from cancer and blood disorders.
Yet, Don Imus needs to be fired for what he said. And while we're at it,his producer, Bernard McGurk needs to be canned as well. McGurk is just as guilty, often egging Imus on.
The "I'm a good person who said a bad thing" apology doesn't cut it. At least he didn't try to weasel out of this by hiding behind alcohol or drug abuse. Still, he said it and a two week suspension doesn't cut it. It is, at best a slap on the wrist. A vacation. Nothing.
The general manager of Cartoon Network resigned after a publicity stunt went wrong and cause d a panic in Boston. He did the right thing. Don Imus should do the right thing and resign. Not talk about taking a two week suspension with dignity. I don't think Don Imus gets it.
After watching and lsitening to him this morning during an interview with Matt Lauer, Don Imus doesn't get it. Maybe it's being stuck in a studio for 35 years or being stuck in the 1980's. Either way, it's obvious that he needs to move on. Citing "context within a comedy show" is not an exscuse.
He has to take his punishment and start over. Guess what? He'll get re-hired and we'll go on like nothing happened. CBS Radio and NBC News needs to remove Don Imus from the airwaves. That is what needs to happen. Otherwise, it just looks like profits and ratings rule over decency and justice.
Until next time,
Al

Ya know what I supported Imus and that is why Roker should be fired, he was all up and arms and he was one of the reasons that Imus was fired, he stood on his moral soap box and blogged everyday until Imus was fired and now he turns around and says something that is even worse, he makes fun of a disease that kills people, why didnt he just make a cancer "joke" while he was at it. Roker spoke out and said that no one shoudl make "jokes" at the expense of others or they should face the consquences and he should do the same, he wanted these harse rules and now he should deal with it and be fired.

Bye AL. His comments are made more disgusting with his lame attempt at a half hearted apology which required people to be offended by him suggesting "IF" anyone actually could have been offended.
He's a hypocrite, and that makes his actions more offensive than Imus. I HOPE he gets fired. I guess he'll play the race card if anything happens with his career.

If what 'yourmuda' says is correct, I think you are being way out of line. And I was not aware that he was lobbying for Imus's dismissal. But then again, I guess I have too much going on in my own life to worry about trivial things like this.

WHAT did Al Roker say about epilepsy? From the nature of your post, it doesn't sound good.
Epilepsy is a disorder that needs exposure, but not the kind of exposure you say Al Roker gave it. From someone who has epilepsy, I don't think he should be fired; rather a greater service would be done by an on-air apology.

what did he say? Oh, he said this..
"Remember that controversial Olympic logo for the 2012 Olympics in London? Some folks have complained that the campaign actually sent them into epileptic seizures,"
Thats not offensive at all. It just meant the logo was probably really crazy looking..some things, like some video games, actually cause seizures. I can't believe people are actually making a deal over that.

I haven't seen the show, but if he did make a joke, he should be dealt with. That is awful to make fun of a disease .
