Yes you can download direct, but bear in mind that most games need to be "unpacked/installed" before hand so, you can put the installer files on there (depending on the size of course), but not whole games, unless you unpack it and it will still fit on there (most games need registry entries to work)

You can download to a memory stick. You probably can not download to a floppy or CD because the data would not download fast enough. If either of them run out of room while writing, it will corrupt them. Not as issue with memory sticks.
If you want the program on a floppy or CD, you would have to download to the hard drive and then copy to the disk.
However, all you would have on the memory stick would be the INSTALL files for the program. You would still have to run the install before the program would work. Whether the install will allow you to run the program from a memory stick is another issue. Some do and some do not.
Also because the computer access a memory stick slower then a hard drive, any games run from a memory stick may play very slow.

It all depends on the size of the program and the size of your memory stick or diskette.
It would make more sense to download it directly to your hard drive and then move it, I think the transfer speed to your hard drive is a lot faster than that to a USB drive.

Yes. But if you play the game directly from a memory stick/diskette, it will load very slowly.

You can download anything (almost) directly to a memory stick, although windows will still store it on the hard drive then move it once it all arrives.
This does not mean you can RUN it direct from there without isntalling it fully
