Please do explain trouble as I want to know why I am idiotic if I am. I value an opinion and I won't say that I am always right but give a reason to make me change my opinion other than calling me idiotic as that doesn't usually convince me.

CT the question is: How long will it be before everyone realises that they are also making off with the money that was for finding Madeleine?
Hence the question mark after it. The titles to these questions always get question marks so you can ignore that part.

I sort of see your point trouble. But if the money wasn't the issue why have the McCanns collected so much and continue to do so when it seems that they are giving up with the actual search part. I feel for you having lost a child but I don't agree with collecting money and quitting.

The latest news is that the McCanns have around £177,000 to find Madeleine and the reward is around £2.5 million. Her father intends to spend the money to find her bribing criminals for information - he will of course get ripped off. After their trip to Morocco - he says it will be a time for "grieving". The best news comes that Google are going to publicise the distinctive right eye she has - which isn't likely to change. At last some commonsense! We also know that GCHQ intercepted a phone call and gave the "authorities" a lead - I assume that means SIS and MI6. Other security forces in Europe will also be alerted - but Madeleine is almost certainly in the Arab world - maybe Morocco.

I guess like me so many people are extremely suspicious of the McCaans intent? They are amassing a nice little nest-egg for themsleves. Makes one ask - does or did Madeleine actually exist? Have fellow travellers on the flight from the UK to Portugal been questioned? And the families on the same resort? Was this little girl actually seen by anybody else? So many questions to which there appears to be so few answers.........
It is about time the McCaans took a backseat in this whole affair!

Glad to hear. Now they are out of the limelight maybe they will face reality and tell the police what really happened. They are a pair of crooks and should not get away with it. Having their daughter missing is no excuse for the parents to make a mockery of things.

trouble 906....sorry for the loss of your daughter....cant imagine the pain....sorry
I am hoping that they might donate some of the fund towards other charities of those that perhaps have lost children...have missing children or murdered children. I think that would be the decent thing to do considering they have still got their salaries coming in etc.

For those who doubt this is a good question - the McCanns have said they'll be staying in Portugal "in more permanent accommodation". Where do you think the money for this will come from? They've basically used the mawkish sentimentality of most people to accumulate a nice little nest egg to extend their holiday. If they're serious about finding her, the one place she isn't going to be is the resort where she was (allegedly) kidnapped!

whatever the outcome they were always going to be able to 'make off with the money'. If their daughter turns up, everyone is going to be so relieved and joyful for them that of course the money will quietly sink without trace in the festivities, no questions asked ...
