Some women bleed for a couple of months, while some bleed for just a week or two. It is advisable to use sanitary napkins during bleeding. Do not use tampons, as it may increase the chances of infection.
There is no hard and fast rule for the time of the first period to appear after delivery. Each woman has a different story to tell. However, one common ground is that women who do not breastfeed may get their first period as early as a month or two after giving birth.
For breastfeeding moms, the first period waits until you cease to breastfeed. Again, this does not hold true for every woman. Women who are into heavy breastfeeding may not get their first period for as long as six months. Some may start to menstruate after 3 or 4 months.
It's good to read books or visit websites related to pregnancy to know more about your first period, so that you won't be horrified to see the bright red blood trickle down, as you wake up to a new life.

It is very normal to bleed for awile after giving birth. I bled for a month with the first and about two weeks with the second . I think that the second one didnt last so long because I breastfeed him.

I had a c section and bled for about 3 weeks. I was worried so i called my doctor and she said it was totally normal. Then my first post partum period lasted almost 2 weeks. It took a few months to get back to normal!

my 2 sisters both bled for about 3 weeks. it kinda just depends on your body! there is not set time that is "normal" i know girls that get a period for 6 or 7 days. and some finish after 3 or 4.. its just your body.. nothing to be alarmed about whatsoever.. if it makes you feel any better... my neighbor bled for just under 2 weeks.. about 1 week and 5 days! but she also has very short periods..so it may be her body!
your fine!

I bleed for about 2 1/2 weeks. And when my 1st real period came it was the same as it was before 2-3 days, just heavier.

Yeah its normal i bled for 10 weeks after having my daughter. The way i see it while pregnent you havent bled for 9 months so its your body kinda like having all of them at once. But expect a good few weeks i think.

2-5 weeks is considered normal. You are fine. Although this isn't a period it is your uterus's way to cleans and start again after hosting your baby for so long.
Congratulations!
