im American, black, im 17, and i definitely think my country has a bit more racism than some countries....well its kind of a fact - just look at the imperialstic white ppl running this country and our history of racism. thats the main problem i think with my ppl....very few americans actually know their history so we keep voting in these dumbass excuses for presidents and making the same damn mistakes over and over....and i wont lie - a lot of americans are ignorant and feed off of stereotypes and generalizations set by media.
oh yeah middle eastern asians get A LOT of prejudice after 9/11...it was kind of funny how a lot of ppl in my class thought sadaam had something to do with it. anyway i remember one time in religion class i asked a question about prejudice and like 5 ppl said they didnt like asians...i was like um wow...i think they're hot : (
i think my generation of ppl will be a little bit better at running this country than the current older population becaues there is a lot more diversity in culture... it pisses me off that the older conservatives even ******* have a say in politics...and some of the things i hear ppl at school say just reflect the prejudice and cultural superiority that their parents teach them.
but in spite of it all i love my country for the idea of america and our freedom. so please dont generalize our entire nation as racist...its just as bad as what you're complaining about. okay im rabling. ill stop....

9/11.
That about sums it up. How many Saudis were on those planes that flew into the World Trade Center and Pentagon? Hmm... If Switzerland ever has a plane full of Middle Easterners fly into one of their buildings, then they'll change their security, too. Is it fair? No, but that is the way things go. It is human nature.
That said, student visa attainablity is not a fair way to gauge the level of racism in a country. Take France for example. You may be able to attain a visa their easily, but look at all the race-related riots they have had the past few years, and the laws they have passed not allowing Muslims to wear traditional clothes at schools. You won't find any of that crap here in the United States. Or take Saudi Arabia or the rest of the Middle East. How do people their feel about Jews and white people? Hmm...
Don't get me wrong. I am not denying that their is racism in the United States. I am sorry you had to experience that, because it isn't fair. It is not YOUR fault that their were Saudis involved with the 9/11 attacks and that our security has become extreme. That said, it is not MY fault, either. You are wrong to assume that the entire country is racist or to deny that other countries are as racist just because you had a bad experience.
In any case, I wish you luck with your studies if this experience doesn't run you off back home. If you stay you will find that most people here are no more racist than anyone else, and if you don't cop an attitude over this, you'll go home with more good memories than this one bad one.

So hope it clear your mind a little...
Don't worry, when EVERYBODY travel to Los Angeles, you have trouble...

It might have something to do with the 9/11 hijackers being Saudi citizens. There are lot of nice people in the US, but the US has to take precautions against a repeat of 9/11, and as the hijackers came from Saudi Arabia, YOU will be exposed to a great deal more scrutiny because you are also from Saudi Arabia. If I went to Iran, how do you think they might treat me because I am from the US? It works both ways.

I don't blame all non black people for my people's failings and most other black people don't either. Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, as well as Minister Louis Farrakhan (all the people you hate the most) DO NOT even claim that all of black America's problems are the fault of other people. I do blame an oppressive system for creating most of the problems my people now have (slavery). If you study the slavery critically and in an intellectual manner (not hearsay) you will see the effect it had on my people and still has.... Our people were slaves for centuries and systematically oppressed a century more. It has only been from about 1968 forward that real progress has been made. Black people have myriad internal issues and problems, stemming from slavery, like dysfunctional broken families and the help me mindset, that need to be solved by BLACK PEOPLE. There is an unconcerned and sometimes racist populace here that is not helpful in my people getting "ahead", but I don't necessarily feel they have any parts in the work we need to do. As a great journalist said in his book Black Lies, White Lies, other people just really need to get out of our way (legally and sociologically speaking) and so that we can get on with the business of solving our problems. But when the rest of the population votes oppressive laws in and does things to hurt us personally it becomes harder. Only YOU are sitting around talking about what black people are thinking (you have no clue believe me...you have never read any magazines, journals or scholarly work on what real black people are doing to solve OUR problems)...

We have supremacy issues here not racist ones. There are some in all races that want to believe that thier race is the supreme race and all others fall short.
