When opening the "add printer" selection there is no way for me to select local printer, as this option is greyed out. How can I open this option up so that I can select a local printer and add a new port? I know how to add the port and have the IP address of the printer, but can't seem to add the local printer. Thank you.

It sounds like you are not an administrator level user and this option is not permitted.

Go to your system administrator and have him do it OR have him give you administrator rights so you can do it.

Local printer means that it is directly connected to the PC you are using.

You might as well select network printer if it is connected to another computer on your network

You need to be logged in as an administrator of that local machine. It sounds as though you do not have rights to do this.
