Sounds to me like you're being very reactionary and prejudgmental. Your first comment insinuates that you believe that only those that are on drugs could disagree with the reasons for the Iraq invasion. I (and many of my friends that are Marines, currently serving or prior service) am not convinced that this war is in the best interests of our nation. Does this mean that we, too, are on drugs? Disagreeing with the government is not the same thing as being anti-American. Such a statement is intentionally inflammatory and willdo nothing to resolve any disputes, either nationally or in your own home. The Founding Fathers disagreed with the actions of their government, and even engaged in some illegal activities. Were they on drugs? Protest is essential. If there was an administration attempting to enact changes that you were completely opposed to (lets say, making all drugs legal and regulating their commerce), would you sit at home like a good little citizen, or would you speak your mind about how you feel? If you want to be allowed to protest when you disagree with a government action, then you have to allow others to do the same.

Tell them that is good for the anti-war flyer because America doesn't belong in this war. For the drugs in my teenager's room, I'd ask, where did they get it and do they mind sharing the good stuff?
America MUST legalize drugs in order to contain the prison overcrowding. Beside, they have no control on what drugs come into the country. No control = no system.

Most teenagers go through the whole hippy thing at some stage and by you giving them a hard time you're only more likely to be accused of repressing them.
Do what they dont expect. You could pretend you did them yourself, that would be funny but also a good way of finding out where they are getting them from. Just an idea.

Anti war is politics... Let the youngster think for them self and over time they may change or remain the same. The drugs are another matter. Show your concern with kindness at first and see if you can help without seeking outside force.

Well, what are the drugs? Caffeine, Tylenol, or something illegal. It would depend on the drug of course how I would handle that.
I'd also wonder why the flyer was there. I'd be proud if they had it there in agreement with it, and had every intention of hanging it up somewhere. I'd be upset if it was there because he/she ripped it down 'cause they believe in suppressing other people's view points.

You initiated the first step by checking their room. Most parents don't even do that anymore. I would talk to them, and then decide whether or not they need to not only be drug tested and treated for an insidious addiction that destrys lives and their future. I would find out who is selling it to them and call the police.
Drug dealers cause more damage to neighborhoods and families resulting in violence, prostitution of young girls, illegal guns and death than for any other reasons! It is them that need to be incarcerated FOREVER!

For the drugs, I'd get my teenager professional help.
For the anti-war flyer, I'd give him or her a pat on the back - because I'm also against the war.

Take the drugs and flush them.
Talk to him about his stance on the war and ask him why does HE believe that way.
Have a debate and exchange ideas.
Talk to him about drugs how they destoried the lives of an uncle he never knew and countless other people he knows.
BTW: We already had this talk and he doesn't do drugs and he was willing to listen more to me than most liberals here.
