He knows the vast majority of the American people are opposed to this bill. Isnt this something a liberal democrat would do and not a conservative? Can my friends on Yahoo answers please tell me what his motive is? Or is it that he has got to the age where he has the same affliction his father had? He just dont get it?

I'm a Bush fan, but he isn't winning me over on this one. This bill would be horrible for America. Why should we think that these new laws would be enforced any more than the current laws (which aren't being enforced)?

This is a Congressional Bill. Bush will sign it because SOMETHING needs to be done. If he cannot compromise then nothing gets done, if nothing gets done more problems with illegals flowing in, without papers. At least the bill offers some solutions. Is it perfect? NO. But we can keep the same old stuff going on until 2010. Because the election will take up 2008. The new President's agenda in 2009. So immigration, not being at the top of any Presidential contenters agenda is delayed until 2010 at the earliest.

He has several motivations.

1. Everyone knows that Bush is pro-big business. The immigration bill is something that big business wants, because it will provide them with cheap labor. Big business is what is going to fill his pockets when he stops being president, so they are his top priority.

2. Immigration is an important issue. Everyone is against the bill, but no one has provided a suitable alternative. SOMETHING has to be done about this issue, and Bush felt that this was at least a decent compromise. Is he right that it is a fair compromise? Probably not, but he is right that something needs to be done. Just kicking the immigrants out simply will not work. Just letting them all in won't, either. Come up with a fair, affordable alternative, and Bush will have to back off.

3. He is only going to be President for another year and a half. So anything he is interested in he is going to try to push down our throats... but the fact is that he has been like this his entire reign. The war, No Child Left Behind, legalized torture, illegal wire-tapping... he has been shoving things on us from the beginning. What makes you think he'll change now?

first of all there is largely certainly one of your factors that has any foundation extremely, the 1st and it continues to be improper, because of fact many human beings have already chosen to "purchase coverage from private, for income agencies," and others who're already on Medicaid or Medicare in basic terms isn't "compelled to purchase coverage from private, for income agencies. something of your factors are in basic terms blatant hog wash (or could I say lies,) so that's no longer basic to reply to this question. Now, in case you're asking might I relatively have supported this invoice if it have been Republicans? in all likelihood no longer because of fact if the Republicans had performed this invoice, they does no longer have placed the regulations on the coverage companies that this invoice does! finally, the "shoved down our throats" talking factor is getting extremely demanding. This grew to become right into a invoice that grew to become into reported and not on time for a twelve months by utilizing Republican obstructionist with there basically objective being to make confident this president would not be effective and seem prepared to allow the rustic fail so they're able to return to power. This invoice grew to become into voted on by utilizing maximum human beings of our ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES in congress and by utilizing a 60-40 majority in the Senate. the undeniable fact which you do no longer seem to appreciate representative democracy seems to be the only issue here.

He is trying to reach a compromise with a Congress that is going to see that absolutely nothing gets done about anything. It is actually Ted Kennedy's bill. Without any compromise nothing at all will be done about immigration. It is naive to think that we can possibly locate, process and deport 12 - 20 million people. We have to deal with those here before we can deal with how to stop the influx of illegals.

First off, Mr. Bush's father @ 85 has all his facilities and is still very active. Secondly, YOU DON'T GET IT! It is your Congress that is responsible for this damn immigration bill, Not solely Mr. Bush. Learn about your government and how it works!

its because he isnt managing to dumb down american schools fast enough, and has to import ignorant nonenglish speaking people and then legalize them. You notice that he is not allowing highly educated eastern europeans or asians to flood the country. Its all part of a plot to stay in office, since he's managed to break, change, or just plain ignore every other law he doesnt like so far.

Because he is a new world order globalist just like Bush I. He doesn't believe in nations with borders. He doesn't believe in a sovereign state.
And mostly, he wants a huge supply of slave labor for his fat cat friends in business.
