A friend of mine and I are going on a weekend trip to Detroit and Cleveland to see some baseball games. What is the parking situation like at Jacobs Field and how much can we expect to pay for parking?? And where are the cheaper lots?

Thanks!

You should try getting to Cleveland a little early, and park at Tower City, special events cost $6. Its very convenient because there is the Gateway walkway that takes you directly to Jacobs Field.
Have fun at the Game!

Parking is relatively cheap in Cleveland compared to most cities, and it is not difficult to find lots. Most parking lots will have slightly elevated "special event" rates, but one should not pay more than $6.

Tower City Center offers a lot of parking in their garage, and once inside Cleveland's landmark indoor complex the signs to "Gateway" will direct you through indoor walkways to the stadium. I could be wrong, but I believe special event parking at Tower City is $8, but could be validated if you eat at a restaurant or buy something at stores. It's a good central location downtown with access to Public Square and between W.6th Street and E.4th where all the dining and nightlife activity is located. Give them a call to double check about rates and validation during special events. www.towercitycenter.com

Not sure where you are coming from, but you could park for free at an RTA Rapid station and take the train directly to Tower City Center round trip for $3.50 and then easily walk to the stadium. www.gcrta.org

There are very cheap parking lots for all day parking ranging from $1 to 3.50 on the western edge of downtown, but they are a little difficult to find. A good parking lot off Frankfort Avenue between W.6th and W.9th streets is $3.50, I believe. Its a good location in the heart of the Warehouse District with swanky restaurants and trendy bars with sidewalk cafes, valet parking, and good people watching. Parking on the street is an option too, but with special events this is a little difficult for a visitor, but 6 PM parking at meters is free (Hint: try W.10th Street). The $1 and 2 lots are on the East Bank of the Cuyahoga River downtown. If you look at a map, locate Old River Road. A small street over is West Avenue where you can access those cheap parking lots is under the Superior Avenue Bridge. Once you park, you can cut across the lots to Old River Road and then head up downtown via W.Superior. Its a bit of a walk, but the parking is cheap and I think there's no question of safety if you are with a friend.

I know theres a parking garage behind dead center field, right behind the Q. I usually park at a 2 level one (cant remember the name) and its 2 blocks away, and it only costs about $10.
